I’m currently reading Midnight Chicken and really really really loving this book. It’s a gift from Hanna on my birthday.
In the opening chapter:
“This is a story of eating things, which is, if you think about it, the story of being alive. More importantly, this is a story about wanting to be alive.”
Makes me think about what Lili said to me when we sat on red plastic stools and bent over slurping hot bowls of pho: “if you don’t have an appetite for food, how do you have an appetite for life?”
